The Skinny Pantry is CelebratingThe Skinny Pantry is very proud and pleased to be celebrating their 2 year anniversary at our Cleveland Ave location. This actually puts over 3 years of business under their belt. From humble beginnings at Fleamasters Flea Market, where they mostly concentrated on dieters needs, low carb +  low sugar, to being one of  Lee County’s Premier Specialty Diet Need Food Emporiums.

When Terry started The Skinny Pantry at the Fleamarket it was out of a strong desire to fill a personal need. Terry and her husband were in the process of dropping 170 pounds between the two of them and finding that there were not a lot of places they could get the foods they were looking for, and certainly not a one stop shop. By opening the booth at the market, she was able to jump into business without diving into debt. At a time when many businesses were struggling, the desire to keep it simple was the driving force. After a short time at the market, they found that there were other specialty diet needs that customers were having a difficult time finding, such as Gluten Free, Dairy Free and Low Sodium. Before they knew it they needed freezers and refrigerators and much more space, and so, The Skinny Pantry at 11356 S Cleveland Ave was born.

To celebrate how blessed it is to have made it to this milestone in such tough economic times, The Skinny Pantry wants to recognize the people who have made this business successful –  the Skinny Pantry Customers.  Customers have discovered this new more convenient location, a little hard to find the first time, but once they did, telling their friends, telling their coworkers, telling their neighbors and church members. It seems everyone who comes in mentions that they know someone who is struggling with diabetes, or Celiac, or food allergies, etc and that they intend to spread the word. In that vein, they are hoping to have them now help spread the word that during the month of October we will be rewarding our customers with tons of in store specials, numerous food tastings and samplings, a new customer reward program.  A new website will also be launched this month, to help our customers navigate their needs on line and be able to share more information about health and wellness.

 The Skinny Pantry will be showcasing several new products this month, a line of sugar free fruit spreads and condiments that are sweetened with Xylitol that are already flying off the shelf and introducing a Gluten Free 9 inch Chocolate Heaven Cake that is literally knocking people’s socks off when they taste it! It will be an exciting and busy month at The Skinny Pantry and will roll right into November being National Diabetes Awareness Month. The Skinny Pantry continues to support and host Lee County’s Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG, formerly known as the Celiac Support Group), which meets here at the store on the first Tuesday of the month from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  You are invited to stop in and check out the specials, sample some new products and chat with Terry or Gina about your health and wellness objectives.  As they say at The Skinny Pantry, it’s about what you CAN eat, not what you can’t!
